The Street of Junqueira is one of the most emblematic in Póvoa de Varzim. Its 900 m in length were, in 1792, adorned with 49 houses on the left side and 29 on the right side, all of them belonging to fishing families. Over the years and after some renovations, the Junqueira It was increasingly becoming a place of commerce. It was at number 54 of this street that Tavares was established, when it was still called Rua 5 de outubro. in 1937.
Even today, it is on this historic street in Póvoa de Varzim that Tavares remains. A space that is much more than a store, like a magical tunnel the jewelry store extends along its length revealing different spaces that take us on a journey through the company’s history.
Right at the entrance you’ll find a beautiful, recently renovated retail space, full of gold, silver and precious stone pieces, with the same counter that has become Tavares’ trademark.
This is followed by a more intimate space prepared for special orders, then a gallery, where Tavares ‘ treasures come to life and where customers are invited to learn more about the history of goldsmithing in Portugal, through exhibitions and small events.
This gallery is a tribute to Carlos and Ana’s father, Miguel Tavares, who always dreamed of a special space that would reflect the heart of this family business.
